Description
CHINARD, Joseph (1756 Lyon - 1813 ibid.). Bust of a woman in Empire dress. Bust of a young woman with devoutly lowered gaze in Empire clothing. Below the breast is a brooch in the form of a Medusa head and a veil covers her hair. A comparable terracotta bust from 1800 - 1805 is in the Musée Cognacq-Jay, where it is listed as a presumed depiction of Juliette Récamier.
