Where these image and sound lots come from

Three sources dominate. Ex-government IT equipment comes via Zoll-Auktion, the customs and public authority platform, with no buyer's premium. Seized lots go through Justiz-Auktion, following court and bailiff decisions, also with no buyer's premium. Add to that bankruptcy and liquidation stock, sold via specialised platforms or auction houses. At auction houses, a buyer's premium applies, often between 15 and 33 per cent, plus German VAT depending on the scheme. Bidorado brings these scattered sales together and shows the all-in price, so you can compare before bidding.

Checkpoints before bidding

Read the German description carefully. "Ohne Festplatte" means the device is supplied without a hard drive, often removed to protect data. "BIOS-Passwort" indicates a locked computer, hard to reuse without intervention. "Ungeprüft" means untested, "defekt" faulty. Check the quantity per lot, whether accessories and cables are included, and the keyboard layout, often QWERTZ. For image and sound, check model references, electrical compatibility and the absence of "nur für Gewerbetreibende", which restricts sales to businesses. A lot with no bids is common: Bidorado's Radar helps spot these sales that are little known outside Germany.

Collection in person or delivery

Many lots are for collection only, marked "nur Abholung". Other sellers ship at least within Germany, sometimes across the European Union. Before bidding, check the seller's terms, the collection deadline and the weight of the lot, as a set of several devices is expensive to transport. A carrier or a relay address in Germany can help bring a lot back. An EU business with a valid VAT number can often buy without German VAT by providing proof of transport, depending on the seller. Bidorado does not sell anything: bidding takes place on the seller's official website.

Frequently asked questions: Photo & audio

Can you buy image and sound equipment without a hard drive?

Yes. "Ohne Festplatte" means the drive has been removed, often to protect data from the previous administration. Plan to buy and install a compatible drive, and to reinstall the system. Also check whether the power supply and cables are included, as they are sometimes missing from the lot.

What do defekt and ungeprüft mean on these lots?

"Defekt" means faulty: the device does not work or has a known fault. "Ungeprüft" means untested: the seller does not guarantee it works. These terms are common on ex-government equipment and seized stock. Read the full description and accept the risk before bidding.

How do you arrange delivery for a lot bought in Germany?

First check whether the seller ships or requires collection in person. If collection is required, use a carrier or a relay address in Germany. For a business purchase without VAT, keep the proof of transport requested by the seller. Payment and collection take place on the seller's official website.
