Where construction and site lots come from

Lots mainly come from company liquidations led by Insolvenzverwalter, decommissioned customs and government equipment, and seized goods sold by courts. You will find machine tools, forklifts and pallet trucks, construction and catering equipment, as well as agricultural and medical equipment. Public platforms such as Zoll-Auktion, Justiz-Auktion and VEBEG sit alongside liquidators and private auction houses. Condition is often described with German terms: betriebsbereit, ohne Funktionsprüfung, ungeprüft or defekt. Read each listing before bidding.

Checks before bidding

Check the Baujahr, the actual condition and any reported defects. An older machine, built before mandatory CE marking, may need to be brought into compliance before being used by employees, which can be costly. For a used medical device, maintenance or requalification by an approved body may be required. Check the VAT regime stated on the lot and the seller's buyer's premium. An EU business with a valid intra-community VAT number can often buy without German VAT by providing proof of transport, depending on the seller.

Collection, delivery and dismantling

Many lots are sold nur Abholung, to be collected on site. Dismantling and removal are the buyer's responsibility within a set deadline, the Abholfrist, sometimes with an approved carrier. The note Demontage durch den Käufer confirms this obligation. Some sellers ship within Germany or the EU. Arrange lifting equipment and transport suited to the weight, and check the power supply: Starkstrom or 400 V for three-phase current. Between Germany and another EU country, no customs duty applies. Delivery outside the EU incurs import duties and VAT.

Frequently asked questions: Construction & site equipment

Can you buy construction equipment without German VAT?

An EU business with a valid intra-community VAT number can often buy without German VAT by providing proof of transport, the Gelangensbestätigung. This depends on the seller and the regime stated on the lot. Check the terms before bidding.

What do the German descriptions on the lots mean?

betriebsbereit means ready for operation, ohne Funktionsprüfung without a functional test, ungeprüft untested and defekt defective. These descriptions state the condition declared by the seller. Read the listing and the terms of sale, as an auction generally offers neither a guarantee nor a right of withdrawal.

How does collection of a construction machine work?

Many lots must be collected on site, often with dismantling and removal the buyer's responsibility within a fixed period, the Abholfrist. Arrange an approved carrier if the seller requires it. Some sellers ship within Germany or the EU, others do not.
